This dauntless doppelganger features proudly in PL’s annual b'day line-up. When we see it on the brew schedule, we smile. Cheekily and for a while. Some crew say it’s our best sour of all time. Your votes suggest the same.
Its distinctive tartness comes from lactobacillus - a glucose chomping non-spore forming bacteria that’s also (in no way related to beer) good for the gut.
A quarter tonne of passionfruit pulp elevates the lactic tang, while açai berry gifts a dazzling ruby hue. Both are added post ferment to the tank as temperatures cool.
Light captures the pint, sending fuchsia beams about the bar. It’s a beautiful froth with plumes of cloudy foam. Expect tart passionfruit and lemon drops on the tongue, with a gift of raspberry late.
Podium finish? Bloody oath.
